At the end of last month all teachers, head teachers and Ghana Education Service (GES) officers on the Fast-track Transformational Teacher programme completed their third and final Intensive Training workshop of this school year. This four-day workshop took place at Holy Child Centre of Excellence and covered topics such as creativity and creative activities to use in the classroom, how to effectively use the outside area for learning, behavior management, parental involvement and finally the teachers were introduced to the new themes that will be used in the classrooms for the next four weeks, Water and Weather.

We were also delighted to welcome the Afrikids team, who were able to observe a day of the workshop during their most recent visit, in preparation to start their replication of the programme in September 2016.

One of the most highly rated aspects of the workshops by the teachers is their interactive and participatory nature. This intensive training workshop was no exception. The teachers had a great time exploring the outside area at the Centre of Excellence and thinking of ways that it can be used for teaching and learning. They also had the chance to show off their creativity with various activities such as sponge printing and crayon rubbings.

We are looking forward to seeing all of what the teachers learnt being put to use in the classrooms during this terms classroom monitoring.
