We are thrilled to share that work has started on a new kindergarten school in the fishing village of Nkontompo in Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region of Ghana, funded by Tullow Ghana as part of its Social Enterprise Policy.

The existing Nkontompo AME Zion Kindergarten School was in a poor state with structural cracks and overcrowding due to the very high enrolment. Existing sanitation facilities were also lacking with no proper toilets.

To tackle these issues, the new kindergarten school will provide four classrooms, an office, toilets, outside teaching area and playground.

After the traditional Sod Cutting Ceremony was held construction works began with the removal of the existing kindergarten school in March.

The site has been infilled and leveled and a retaining wall and box drains are underway to ensure the site is well prepared for the main school structure.
