In October we began work on a new two classroom kindergarten school in Aboadze, a fishing community located in the Shama district in Ghana’s Western Region. There is an existing primary school building at Aboadze Catholic ‘A’ basic school, but the kindergarten block was in a very poor condition and in need of demolition.

The new kindergarten school will feature two classrooms, a shaded outside teaching area and the existing toilet block will be renovated.

The site team has made great progress and you can already see the main classroom block taking shape.

Key activities include:

  • Demolition of existing kindergarten block.
  • Site clearance and fencing to secure the construction area.
  • Setting out the construction area
  • Foundations
  • Concrete works on the frame of the classroom block, including the foundations, the columns and the upper ring beam.
  • Roof timbers are in place.
