Sabre Education is pleased to announce the release of our 2023–2025 Impact Report, highlighting two years of progress made in partnership with the Government of Ghana and our partners to strengthen early childhood education nationwide.
The report shows significant gains across the early years system. Over this period, Sabre trained more than 6,000 teachers, supported 709 education officials, and contributed to over 361,000 children receiving a quality, play-based kindergarten education. These achievements reflect a growing movement to ensure every child begins their learning journey in a joyful, child-centred classroom.
Behind the numbers are powerful stories from teachers and children. Educators report that once-quiet learners are now joining songs, games and group activities with confidence, while classrooms have become vibrant spaces filled with creativity, movement and purposeful play. Evidence from our programmes demonstrates the impact clearly. In Assin South, after three terms of play-based teacher training, 79% of children achieved age-appropriate literacy skills, compared to 19% in a nearby district not yet using the play-based approach. Similar improvements were observed in numeracy and psychosocial development.
Our work continues to reach across the full education system. Through the expansion of our low-fee private school programme, more children in underserved communities are accessing play-based learning. At the same time, our partnerships with 13 Colleges of Education are preparing the next generation of teachers with practical skills and strong foundations in the play-based pedagogy.
As Ghana prepares for the national rollout of play-based teacher training, which will reach over 30,000 KG teachers and 1.2 million children each year, Sabre is proud to stand alongside the Government as a committed technical assistance partner. Together, we are working towards a future where every child in Ghana receives a play-filled, high-quality start to learning.
