We had our youngest group of supporters take on their own Steps for Change challenge last month. Lostwithiel Pre-School arranged a STEPtember walk, all the way from pre-school to Coulson Park in Lostwithiel.
The children were very good on their walk and held the adults hands all the way and could be easily seen with their beautiful bright tabards. The adults were easy to spot too as they were all sporting Sabre Trust T-shirts.
There was lots of time for exploring on the way looking out for seasonal items such as acorns and helicopter seeds and fallen leaves.
The children continued their steps in the play park, walking along the balance beam and climbing up the climbing frame – having fun, taking steps and learning through play.
The children enjoyed seeing some of the handmade teaching and learning materials that are used in classrooms in Ghana, they especially liked the musical instruments.
Learning through play is a key part of the child-centred, activity based pedagogy that we train teachers to deliver in Ghana. It is fantastic to have local children in Lostwithiel supporting children in Ghana.
