We are delighted to share that for a second year in a row Amenano District Model KG has won the award for best Kindergarten in the Western Region at the 2016 National Best Teacher Awards. Amenano teacher Ruth Abakah, who completed her two year Fast-track Transformational Teacher Training (FTTT) in July 2015, also came second in the best National KG Teacher award, what an amazing achievement!

The awards were held in the Brong Ahofa regional capital Sunyani, with the special guest of honour President of Ghana John Mahama. The awards are held to recognise and celebrate innovative best practice teachers and high performing schools.

President Mahama gave an excellent address highlighting that lesser known schools are now making excellent academic improvement and thus gaining more recognition, and we are delighted that FTTT schools are gaining the recognition that they deserve.

“In the past, there was a constant number of well-recognised privileged schools that always swept the best performances in results at different levels of the educational structure. Today, as I sit here and listen to some of the names, I found that it is not only the privileged schools that can perform well. Some of these schools are from districts and regions where a lot of parents do not want their children to go. I believe that something good is happening to Ghana’s educational system.”
