The Fast-track Transformational Teacher Training (FTTT) team in the Central Region have been carrying out a Spot Check exercise in the established Model Practice Classrooms.

The teachers in these Model Practice Classrooms have already completed the full two year FTTT programme and began teaching independently in September 2015.

In order to assess the sustainability of the programme this Spot Check is one of three monitoring and evaluation activities the FTTT team will be carrying out. The other two activities will be administering the Teacher Monitoring and Assessment Tool and holding a Reflection Meeting.

As part of the Spot Checks the FTTT team spent 20-30 minutes in each of the 38 classrooms, assessing classroom practice, against a check list of key areas needed for the successful implementation of the programme. The teachers were also asked why they were still implementing the programme without support and supervision.

“This programme is the best so I don’t see why I should stop implementing it. It is better than the old method of teaching, the children enjoy the active nature of the programme” Dorcas Koomson, Teacher at Brenu Akyinim KG 1A
