This month we are very excited to see the start of the school screening process.

The school screening process is a key activity in the expansion of our Transformational Teacher Training programme from September 2015 in both the Central and Western Region. We have been screening schools to make sure that they fulfil a number of criteria before they join the programme in September.

The key criteria we are looking at in each school includes infrastructure elements such as; separate classrooms for KG1 and KG2, an outside area specifically for KG pupils, KG appropriate furniture and secure classrooms, but also we are looking for headteacher and teacher commitment.

The screening process will be carried out in conjunction with the Colleges of Education, OLA in Central Region and Holy Child in Western Region, as they play a crucial role in the programme as Trainers and it is their students who will be going out to live in the communities that we select for the duration of their placement year.

In order to prepare for the school screening we carried out a training workshop with both our Central and Western Region trainers to discuss with them how the screening process will work and the criteria that we are looking out for in the schools.
