OLA Kindergarten Centre of Excellence in Cape Coast, Central Region is now OPEN!!!. This is Ghana’s first Centre of Excellence and Sabre’s fifth Sustainable Kindergarten Complex built to date.

A Centre of Excellence is a Sustainable Kindergarten Complex with a dual purpose. The three classroom school will not only provide quality facilities to hundreds of three, four and five year olds but will also showcase an optimal learning environment to support our Transformational Teacher Training programme, which trains teachers in the new Ghana Education Service endorsed play based pedagogy. The Centre of Excellence, built in the grounds of OLA College of Education, will feature model classrooms demonstrating the best way to arrange indoor and outdoor spaces and will expose student teachers at the college to practical experience early on in their studies, as well as hosting teacher training workshops.

In order to ensure the children and teachers were able to start using the school at the beginning of the new academic year, the school was opened ahead of an official inauguration ceremony, which takes a lot of time to plan. The ceremony will be organised for later in the school year. Watch this space to hear more about that and for updates from the OLA school community.

Here are some photos from the first few days at the school, preparing classrooms for use and children enjoying their new playground!
