Headteacher of the Week- Victoria Gbena

This week our Headteacher of the week is Victoria Gbena from Amenano Model Kingerarten.

Amenano is currently the only school in the Western Region taking part in the Transformational Teacher Training programme,  meaning the classrooms have not received any of the OLA College of Education student teachers, as they are required to be placed in schools in the Central Region. This has not stopped Victoria and her teachers from implementing the programme to a very high standard which we have been thrilled to see.

We spoke to Victoria to find out what she has done to help her teachers and the school to achieve such fantastic performance;

As the head of the school I do not hide anything from my teachers. I always accept their views, which also helps in the progression of the school. I also provide them with their needs all the time including things to help them in preparing their teaching and learning materials, for which I do not delay in providing anything they ask for. I often visit them in the class to check the learning centres, table top activities and outside activities in order to verify whether they are on the right path…I make sure that there is harmony as well as a cordial relationship between us.”

A huge well done to everyone at Amenano Model Kindergarten and we know that Victoria and her teachers will continue with their fantastic work. We are looking forward to seeing how much more they can achieve once they have the student teachers in their classrooms next year when the delivery of the programme in Western Region begins!
