We are delighted to announce that Tullow Oil Plc and the Sabre Trust have been shortlisted for a Charity Times Awards, for Corporate National Partnership Champion.

The award recognises the active involvement and positive impact that Tullow Oil Plc has had on our work through the Brighter Futures Marathon initiative.

Spear headed by David Lawrie, Tullow Vice President for North and West Africa, a team was recruited to run the New York Marathon, who became known as the Brighter Futures Marathon team. These team members became ambassadors for a global staff engagement initiative that lasted a whole year and produced results far beyond their original goal. Members of the team also completed marathons in Cornwall, UK and Accra, Ghana as part of a multi-continent fundraising effort.

The initiative involved a three pronged approach to fundraising, including individual sponsorship, community fundraising within the Tullow Group and corporate sponsorship from Tullow’s partner companies in the oil industry.

The Brighter Futures Marathon raised over £150,000!!!.

We have been shortlisted along side six other charity and corporate giants which demonstrates how the Brighter Futures Marathon really stands out from the crowd due to its energy, inclusiveness and success. Congratulations everyone!

The award ceremony is on 7th October so watch this space and please keep your fingers crossed for us!
