At the end of last month the Fast-track Transformational Teacher Training (FTTT) team in the Western Region had a fantastic day with the Holy Child student teachers celebrating the end of their year on the FTTT programme. The Western Region team organised an exciting closing ceremony for the students as the Sekondi Resource Centre.

The ceremony centered on the students fast approaching journey as Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and how they can make a lasting difference in the schools they are posted to in September using their FTTT knowledge. The student teachers and Sabre team discussed what challenges the NQTs are likely to face when they arrive at their postings, and how they can gain the support of their fellow teachers and head teachers for the FTTT programme.

We were delighted to welcome back two former students who have completed their NQT year and successfully implemented the FTTT programme in their classrooms. The teachers shared their experiences with the students of becoming an NQT and they were able to answer some of the questions the group had. This really encourage the students and got them excited to be in charge of their own classrooms once the new school year begins in September.

The Holy Child trainers, Ghana Education Service officers and a representative of the Principal of Holy Child College were present to honor the occasion and to issue certificates to each of the student teachers.

We wish the student teachers the very best of luck in their new postings and we look forward to hearing all of their news and following up with them throughout the year.
