Location: Sabre Education Head office (currently in East Legon – Accra, Ghana)

ROLE PURPOSE

The role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the employer – employee relationship. This includes the administration of hiring, retention, staff development, termination, personnel records, legal compliance, compensation and benefits, and long-term staffing strategies.

The role is also responsible for developing and implementing organizational and team effectiveness initiatives. A key emphasis will be placed on the improvement of existing performance management systems and developing professional development policies and processes. Other responsibilities include overseeing staff safety, health, and morale.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement Human Resource strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall organisation’s strategy.
  • Implement all human resource policies in line with organisational needs and suggest improvements/reviews as and when necessary.
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process:
    • Assist with the screening of applicants, scheduling interviews and maintain a database of prospective applicants and manage a talent pipeline.
    • Prepare prospective candidates for relevant pre-employment processes including criminal checks, driving tests and reference checks in line with recruitment policies and processes.
  • Organize and manage new employee orientation by providing information packets, explaining company policies and relevant benefits, filling of forms and obtaining employee information.
  • Support current and future organisational needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human resources.
  • Maintain a confidential system for handling all human resources records in order to provide a comprehensive, efficient, accurate and current record of all matters pertinent to employment, transfer, tenure, retirement, leave, and the like.
  • Bridge leadership and employee relations by addressing concerns of staff or bringing them to the attention of leadership.
  • Ensure strict adherence to the Staff Handbook and Human Resources policy manual.
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives strong teamwork, professional development and focus on organisational impact.
  • Support the entire employee cycle in the organisation (recruitment, managing discipline, performance management, learning & development, exits, employee welfare, leave management etc).
  • Manage compensation related issues in line with the organisational policy or bring them to the attention of leadership.
  • Compile  training needs identified during appraisal and drive learning and development agenda in line with policy.
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
  • Support and promote a positive and collaborative organisational culture.

Educational Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR/Business administration or relevant discipline or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • A professional qualification in human resources or its equivalent will be a plus.
  • Certifications in coaching, Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) or other psychometric assessments, leadership development programs preferred.
  • 8-10 years’ relevant experience in human resources management and development
  • 2 years developing and implementing organizational development interventions.
  • Strong confidentiality ethic, demonstrate flexibility, and versatility in adjusting to changing environments and requirements as necessary
  • Influence: Asserts own ideas and persuades others to gain support and commitment.
  • Demonstrate high-level interpersonal and cross-cultural skills including the ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally with sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, social and political issues.
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrates understanding of business principles required for the job and organization and how to use them to solve problems.
  • Excellent understanding of office administration practices and staff contract negotiation.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks at the same time, work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications such as PowerPoint, Excel, MS word.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated prior experience in a management role.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and problem solving skills.
