Programme Management Meetings are an essential part of the smooth running of our Fast-track Transformational Teacher Training (FTTT) programme. Earlier this month the Western Region team held their meeting, which included all programme stakeholders from the Ghana Education Service (GES) and Holy Child College of Education. We were delighted to welcome the Sekondi Takoradi Metro and Shama District Directors, Regional Human Resource Manager, Sekondi Takoradi Metro & Shama Kindergarten Coordinators and Circuit Supervisors from GES, and from Holy Child a representative of the College of Education Principal and FTTT College Trainers were able to attend.

The meeting provided a great opportunity for stakeholders to share the successes and challenges they have experienced with the programme over the last term.

As the two year training cycle will come to an end in July, stakeholders took the time to think about how they will sustain the Model Practice Classrooms that have been established and also how we prepare to take on new schools in September.  Some of the suggestions discussed included:

  • Training for Primary school teachers years 1 to 3 to support in the transition from Kindergarten Class 2 to Primary Class 1.
  • Parental sensitisation
  • Termly circuit based meetings
  • Programme Management Meeting
  • Resource mobilisation
  • Building strong relationships with District Assembly and Metro

The meeting was a great success and all parties left with actions to carry out during the next school term to ensure the continued success of the programme.
