In September this year there will be a new group of kindergarten schools joining our Fast-track Transformational Teacher Training (FTTT) programme in the Western Region.

Ghana Education Service officers, Holy Child College of Education Tutors and our FTTT Sabre team met up to discuss the best way forward to screen the potential new schools joining the programme.

The College Tutors and FTTT team shared their experience of school screening procedures for others to learn from. Together, the team shared a guide to assist those carrying out the school screening to correctly assess the new teachers, head teachers and the school as a whole.  The guide highlights how to assess and observe the key criteria required in selecting schools to join the programme.

Together the officers, tutors and team members looked through the assessment form in detail in order to resolve any challenges on the form. The criteria the team will be looking for when they visit the schools include, classrooms having enough light, handwashing facilities, shaded outside areas, secure classrooms, engaged teachers, head teachers and local community.

It was great to see all the stakeholders contributing to a successful meeting.  We are looking forward to welcoming the news schools onto the 2018 FTTT programme.
