We are really delighted to announce the appointment of our new Country Director Billy Abimbilla, who joined our Ghana based team in June this year.

Billy has over 20 years’ experience working with international NGOs growing organically from a field worker to the position of an acting Regional Director. He has worked with different international NGOs in Ghana, Liberia, Uganda, Sierra Leone and Tanzania in various positions.

Billy has experience managing large grants from USAID, DFID, IrishAid, World Bank, Global Fund and from Government sources and working with teams to implement diverse and complex projects in stable environments and in emergencies such as the recent Ebola outbreak in West Africa.

In both Liberia and Sierra Leone, Billy supervised teams that manage over 10 different projects in child protection, water and sanitation, early childhood care and development centres, HIV/AIDS, community health, youth skills training and livelihoods.

“I made a personal decision to join Sabre Charitable Trust Ghana because of my passion to continue to work for the development and wellbeing of deprived and vulnerable children, who are at the core of Sabre’s interventions. Having gone through a miserable childhood myself due to poverty and lack of opportunities for early years learning, joining Sabre gives me the chance to contribute to a strong and promising bright future for children in homeland Ghana”

“I am very pleased that we have attracted a Country Director of Billy’s calibre and experience, and am confident that he will play a vital role in Sabre’s continued growth, development, and recognition as a key partner in the delivery of quality early years education in Ghana.”
