Our Central Regional team organised a one day student teachers Moving on Meeting at the end of June. The meeting was to prepare the students teachers for their upcoming postings as Newly Qualified Teachers from September, so that they are able to implement the new activity and play based pedagogy  in their own classrooms. It was also an excellent opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments as Mentees on the  Fast-track Transformational Teacher Training (FTTT) programme. The student teachers from OLA College will be leaving their school placements on the 1st July, to sit their end of year exams.

The Moving on Meeting was held at OLA Assembly Hall and was attended by 97 students teachers, five tutors from the College and the FTTT team.

The Country Director of Sabre Trust, the FTTT Programme Manager, the representative of the Principal of OLA College and the FTTT Coordinator of the College all gave brief speeches at the meeting, congratulating the student teachers and encouraging them to continue implementing all that they’ve learnt from their year on the FTTT programme.

Dora Frimpong and Betty Agyimah Hagan, who were on the programme last year and are now successfully implementing the programme in their own classrooms, were invited to share their experiences and also give student teachers valuable time to ask them some questions.

The student teachers each received a certificate at the end of the programme, and it ended with a wonderful celebration including a video looking back on their training, a delicious buffet, and of course some dancing. We wish the student teachers the best of luck as they head out to change the future of Ghanaian kindergarten education.
