The trainers at Holy Child College of Education have had a busy year, and last week they attended their final Training of Trainers workshop for the year in order to prepare for their delivery of the student teachers’ third and final Intensive Training Workshop.

This two-day Training of Trainers workshop gave the trainers the opportunity to revise the scripts, as they delivered the same training to last year’s cohort of student teachers. It was great to see that the trainers had retained a lot of their knowledge from their previous delivery of this training and with a bit of practice they were ready for the delivery of the final four day workshop of the year.

This four day workshop for the student teachers yielded a lot of conversation and discussion which resulted in content learning of the script, which we believe has really equipped the student teachers to start up the implementation of the programme in the schools they will be posted to.

The content focused on mathematics progression and understanding of the skills needed by pupils to consolidate mathematics. Behaviour management and how teachers can relate with other adults in the classroom to result in good implementation of the programme was also included.

This workshop gave a lot of opportunities for student teachers to prepare teaching and learning materials to be used in their actual classroom they will be posted to in September this year.
