Last month we selected our first school of the month for 2018. Congratulations to Fawumanye Kindergarten School in the Western Region of Ghana for winning the school of the month by showing their great commitment and enthusiasm on the Fast-track Transformational Teacher Training project.

It’s a big thumbs up to all the teachers and head teacher for their brilliant organisation and planning in implementing what they have learnt from the training in the school.

See what the head teacher and teachers had to say about the Fast-track Transformational Teacher Training project:

Richard Nsiah, Head Teacher, “The introduction of phonics has really helped children and now they can read and form their own simple sentences. When we compare our children in KG1 & KG2 to those who went to primary school before the Fast-track Transformational Teacher Training project, we have realised that these kindergarten pupils can pronounce and spell words that the lower primary children could not and this is as a result of the phonics included in the project”

Salomey Odonkor, KG1 Teacher “When you enter our classroom you will see that we have decorated it with improvised materials that have cost us nothing, but per the training, we had been able to do that which helps children to have a feel of how those things look and learn from it, this makes our children feel at home and learn well because they see new things every day.”

Nancy Pieterson, KG1 Teacher “We prepare our teaching and learning materials on time and use them in our activities throughout the day, which motivates the children to come to school every day. We also come to school early to prepare the children for the normal activities for the day”
