The first Intensive Training Workshop of this next phase of our Fast-track Transformational Teacher Training programme in the Western Region was delivered earlier this month.

The training workshop was delivered by a new team of trainers, comprising teachers and Ghana Education Service Officers who are all very familiar with the programme. The workshop was held over four days and was well attended by classrooms teachers, head teachers and Ghana Education Service Officers. Over the next two years we are working with 46 classrooms across the Shama and Sekondi Takoradi districts in the Western Region.

The participants were very curious to learn this new approach that focusses on child-centred, active and play based learning. The trainers delivered the content well and maintained enthusiasm and engagement throughout the workshop.

Teachers, head teachers and Ghana Education Service had an opportunity to prepare teaching and learning materials to take back to their schools so they can begin to implement what they have learnt. The teaching takes a thematic approach and the current theme is ‘Learning through Play’.

Some of the participants shared that it had been an enjoyable workshop and they were glad to be gaining knowledge that will help the school and the children.
