The first Intensive Training Workshop (ITW) successfully came to an end at the start of this week. This workshop, ran over four days and brought together headteachers and teachers from the 16 new schools that are starting two years of Fast-track Transformational Teacher Training. The ITW also brought together Ghana Education Service Officers and the OLA College of Education students who will be carrying out their year of teaching practice in these schools.

The ITW was held at OLA Kindergarten Centre of Excellence, Ghana’s first Centre of Excellence and Sabre’s 5th Sustainable Kindergarten Complex.

We were delighted to have on board four new trainers from OLA College of Education, who will join forces with the established trainers to deliver all of the training workshops throughout the next two years. They all displayed their commitment to the programme from the word go during their seven day Training of Trainers workshop in preparation for delivering the ITW to all of the participants.

The ITW was a fully packed five days, with day 1 being an Orientation Day to introduce the participants to the programme as well as giving the OLA students a chance to meet with the headteachers and teachers from the schools they will be spending the next year in. During the following four days the participants received intensive training in order to prepare them to begin implementing the  programme in their own classrooms.

The workshop was an overwhelming success, with excellent participation and enthusiasm from everyone. The participants all left excited to begin the transformation of their classrooms. Both the OLA trainers and Brighter Futures teams will be providing support to the schools over the coming weeks as they begin to implement the programme, and we all look forward to seeing how they all progress and flourish.
