The learning centres used during facilitated play in the Fast-track Transformational Teacher Training kindergarten classrooms aren’t just about role-play and make-believe; they can also be used for developing reading, writing and creative skills. In KG2 at Cherubim and Seraphim in Cape Coast, pupils using the ‘Home Centre’ were asked to write and draw what they can see. Take a look at what they produced…

When we asked their teacher, Regina Arthur, how come her pupils’ work looked so good, she told us “There were a lot of free writing and drawing activities they did in KG1 and that has helped to develop the children’s writing.”

What a fantastic example of how the activity-based learning works to gradually develop children’s skills in a fun and engaging way!
